Gamecreature Arcade

Here's an all-too-brief photo tour of my efforts to take an old, gutted, video game cabinet and fix it up to play some of my favorite classic arcade games. You can see the final results on the left. Click on any picture to see a larger image.

Before/During

This is what I started with - a completely gutted Tiger Road game. Nothing was left inside, not even the power supply.

A closer look at the top of the cabinet. Nice looking hole in the speaker mesh!

Here's the new control panel installed. You can see what rough shape the molding on the side of the cabinet is in.
After

Here it is in my "gameroom." Compare it to the image above. New marquee, new monitor bezel, new paint, and (of course) completely new insides.

I apologize for the quality of this image, but here's a look at the front of the finished game. The entire machine (lights, monitor and computer) can be turned on with a single push of the button.

A closer look at the control panel. I put the second joystick back in and added enough buttons to play most one and two player games.
A closer look at the marquee. The hole has been patched up and a volume control has been added. And (for the games that support it) now there's stereo sound. And a big subwoofer inside.
Epilogue

So that's it so far. The outside is done. Now I'm working on upgrading the inside so it has enough muscle to play some of the more sophisticated games. Let me know what you think!
